Many Problems

Tigers have been hunted as a prize for its amazing coat. When forests are cleared in Asia are cleared for timber, tigers are forced to move into smaller areas. The islands that Sumatran tigers are forced into don't have enough food; therefore the tigers are forced to live on livestock and humans.

Deforestation is accelerating and the culture is expanding very much. People hunt the prey that tigers eat such as wild cattle, deer, and pigs; this means that their is less food for the tigers. Population of tigers have decline because lack of habitat and food. These tigers are often killed due to conflict with humans.

These beautiful animals are even hunted for medical purposes in East Asian countries. Sumatrans are also killed due to trading of their body parts. Pulp, paper and rubber companies are disturbing the forests that the Sumatrans live and hunt in. Palm oil plantations are also disturbing the areas that Sumatrans go into.

There are an estimate of only 500-600 Sumatran tigers in the world. There isn't enough staff to help with wildlife and forestry organizations. There are some programs that come together and help each other on finding more solutions or enforcing the solutions that already been given.

Laws about poaching are not enforced enough and paochers are killing any chance that they can possibly get. The Sumatran tigers are found on the Indonesian island; the growth of population makes it harder for these tigers to live because of the hunting there.

Deforestation is also caused because of mining and petroleum. Some forested areas have fairly high concentrations of iron ore, mineral, and oil deposits which are very important natural recources.
